Week 4 was not kind to the Oakland Raiders as they lost to their AFC West division rivals, the Denver Broncos. The offense sputtered for the second week in a row while the defense struggled to contain an improved Denver offense.

Despite the loss, the entire country suffered another terrible event as 57 people were killed and around 500 more were injured in a shooting that occurred on the Las Vegas strip. This tragedy is nothing but a senseless attack on innocent people and in its wake the Raiders released an official statement:

The Raiders family is shocked and saddened by the tragedy in Las Vegas and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, families and first responders. The heart of the Raider Nation goes out to Las Vegas.”

The Raiders are set to leave for Las Vegas after having their relocation approved by the league and its owners and are doing their part to address the issue in their soon-to-be home. The tragedy in Las Vegas transcends sports and it is an important time for fans of the NFL and everyone else to come together in support of this tragic event.

Sports have a way of healing in times of distress and this should be no different as the 2017 NFL season continues. Oakland will likely have trouble scoring with Derek Carr set to miss an extended period of time with a back injury, but will get a chance to get back on track with a home tilt with the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5.
